Abby: Shadow and Lassie

As Andrew said before, the people that we are staying with have two huge dogs. They are very friendly but they could scare the wits out of anyone. Shadow is the big mostly-black one. Although he is the size of a young lion and has a very ferocious bark, he is very sweet! Lassie is the one that I'm petting in the picture. She is also very sweet. The day that we got the picture of Lassie, Shadow was not looking so friendly because he had just finished barking his head off (yes that is him in the background). They are both German Shepherds even though Shadow only kind of looks like one.

Yesterday my grandma on my dad's side came. The people we are staying with took my grandma, and my dad's cousin's college age kids, and our family out to eat. At the restaurant I started to get a bump on my lip and my stomach started to hurt. The friend we are staying with took my mom and me home. I lay down for a few minutes and then I really felt like I like I was going to throw up. So I ran to the bathroom and threw up. I slept for five or six hours. It was probably an allergic reaction to nuts that had accidentally gotten into my food somehow. I hope it doesn't happen again!

On a happier note I had been worrying about finding sugar-free gum. Today I found some Orbit gum and for only about a third of the price in the U.S.! Besides spearmint, it also comes in lime and mixed fruit flavors. Yesterday we saw Tic Tacs in cherry and mango flavors (along with the usual orange and peppermint) and they were only twenty cents a box!

  1. So sorry about the allergic reaction Abby. That is not fun! We hope too that it doesn't happen again.

Yeah for sugar-free gum. We chew it all the time, and spearmint is our favorite.

We are making a cool fort in the backyard with our cousins. They are moving overseas soon too.

    We love you. The Falts

  2. Abby, I hope you are beginning to get adjusted to the time there and are able to feel rested. I feel terribly grumpy when I am tired, and it took me a whole week to recover from a trip to China a few years ago. Those dogs are quite big and I agree they look like they could certainly mean business! Be sure to read Aesop's "The Lion and the Mouse", and feed those doggies lots of treats. :)

Keep writing and I'll keep praying for all of you. Please give your whole family my best.

    Love,
    Anne Edelen

  3. Hi Abby and Andrew!! I love reading about your adventures. I know it will take awhile for you to get used to things, but I also know that God will help you!! I like it that you have the time and temperature of Bangalore on your page. You are 11 and 1/2 hours ahead of us. (I didn't even know the time zones could have 1/2 hours difference!) Keep writing. It helps us to know what is going on in your life!
    Love,
