Abby: Why "Through Our Green Eyes"?

There is more than one reason that we call our blog Through Our Green Eyes. The first reason is pretty obvious, we have green eyes! The next reason is that kids who live in two different cultures end up having a culture of their own. For example, one culture is the color yellow and the other is blue, adults would see blue and yellow and so they can tell the difference. But the kids see it all jumbled together, like- green!

An example of this would be when we lived in India (when I was three) I thought that brownies were Indian, and until I was five, whenever people in the U.S. would make them I would think, "Hey where did they learn to make brownies?"

From Andrew:
I used to think that there was a New York in India and one in the U.S. because I saw my Indian relatives both places and I knew that they were from New York!

I am excited about getting a puppy. I am sure I have told you that, if you have asked me what I am most excited about in going to India! Speaking of puppies, you may notice at the bottom of the page is "The Daily Puppy". Every time you get to our blog there will be a different cute face to see, even if we haven't written any new posts. Pretty fun, huh?

  1. That's a pretty great explanation of the green concept!

I can't wait to read all your observations as you move and get settled into a new place. Don't forget to write about leaving. That's pretty important stuff.

I love the daily puppy idea! What fun! I love dogs.

    Good job A & A~!

  4. Abby, I'm so proud of you, and will look forward to reading about your adventures in India! This journey has been such a long time coming and I know it will be a tremendous experience for you. Relish each day as an opportunity to learn something new -- and DON'T expect to have it all perfect from Day One. :) You have such a kind heart and clear insight, and I feel you will be a gift to someone every day that you are alive. God has great purpose in this for you.
I will be praying the joy will be great and the frustrations few.

    Much love,
    Anne (Nance) Edelen
